Suspected ritual killer, Ifeanyi Dike, who allegedly raped and killed an eight-year-old girl in Rivers State, has been arraigned on murder charges in a magistrate court in the state.
The presiding magistrate, Amadi Amadi-Nna, on Tuesday declined jurisdiction and ordered that the case file be handed over to the Department of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
The court, however, remanded the suspect in prison custody and adjourned the matter sine die.
The defendant’s lawyer, Lizinna Ameegua, told reporters outside the courtroom that his client was willing to face trial.
Ameegua also urged the Department of Public Prosecution to expedite action on the matter.
On her part, Chairman of the International Federation of Women Lawyers in Rivers State, Anthonia Osadienne, said justice would be served.
