The Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige is meeting with the Joint Action Committee meeting of non-teaching staff unions of Nigerian government universities, to find ways on how to solve the ongoing strike.

The meeting, which is ongoing in Abuja, is attended by the Minister of State for Labour, Chairman Income Salaries and Wages Commission.

Also present are leaderships of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU).

Others include Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters, NLC President, SSANU/NASU leadership and the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Education.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige had offered assurances of the government’s commitment to immediately commence the payment of salary shortfalls and funding for universities’ infrastructure.

The government had reached a fresh agreement with the striking unions with the assurance to commence the payment of salaries shortfalls as well as the quarterly revitalisation funds for universities immediately.
