Part of the ways of promoting national peace is when judges are firm and guided by the rule of law, which in turn enables citizens to have confidence in the judicial system.
This is according to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, who has called on judges of Federal High Courts to be firm and guided by the constitution in the discharge of their duties.
He was speaking in Abuja, at the swearing in of the Acting Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Adamu Kafarati.
Appealing to judges to abide by the laws, the CJN said, “The applications of these guiding rules can help guarantee the rule of law in the country.
He also called on the judges to be bold and fearless in performing their duties regardless of who is affected or is involved.
“The public still holds its perception about the judiciary, but ensure that your decisions and actions would assist in deepening the country’s unity,” he said.
“I want to also urge all the judges to support the acting chief judge to succeed in his new office.”
