The Federal Government says it will begin the process of banning doctors in public service from engaging in private service.

The Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole made this known on Wednesday after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

According to the Health Minister, “The law of the land does not allow any public officer to do anything, apart from farming.

“And so the committee will make appropriate recommendations to the government on this important issue which is of considerable interest to quite a number of Nigerians”.

He also told State House correspondents that residency for medical practitioners would be pegged at seven years.
