Nigerian Army troops have killed three suspected Boko Haram terrorists during a routine patrol along Dikwa-Ngala Road in Borno State.

The Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Usman, revealed this in a statement on Saturday.

According to him, the feat was made on Friday morning by troops attached to 3 Battalion of 22 Brigade who came under terrorists’ ambush close to Missini Village in the northern part of the state.

He said the team cleared the ambush and neutralised three terrorists, as well as recovered one AK-47 rifle and 39 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition.

Elsewhere, Brigadier General Usman said the Army Council has approved the promotion of 123 officers from the ranks of Majors to Lieutenant Colonels and from Lieutenant Colonels to Colonels.

He said 66 Lieutenant Colonels were promoted to the rank of Colonels and 57 Majors to the rank of Lieutenant Colonels, including a deceased Lieutenant Colonel.
