The President, Muhammadu Buhari, has met with Service Chiefs at the Presidential Villa, where he officially inaugurated the Armed Forces Council under his administration.

The council has the responsibility of considering matters of concern to the Armed Forces, including discipline and administration.

It is also to ratify the National Defence Policy, as well as harmonized terms and conditions of Service of Officers.

Besides the Service Chiefs, the Minister of Defence, the Permanent Secretary in the Defence Ministry and a senior director were at the meeting.

The last meeting of the council was held in July 2014.
