Ondo State government says it is ready to create a baseline study aimed at achieving the desired goals of economic development of the state.

This was according to the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr Emmanuel Igbasan, who spoke at a gathering on Thursday in Akure, the state capital.

Igbasan stressed the need for the study for proper planning which he said could only be effected based on information and knowledge.

He, however, said the state was yet to create baseline figures for which it can benchmark its achievements as a government.

The Commissioner said the move became necessary for Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s administration to achieve its dream of a proper planning by adopting an integrated approach.

“I was looking at a report yesterday where Ondo State does not have a GDP; we don’t know our GDP, we don’t know what we produce and our output and these are tools for proper planning for optimum resource allocation which we do not have.

“So, as soon as possible, we are going to have a baseline study of Ondo state in the thematic area of global phenomenon which is the sustainable development goal,” he said.

Igbasan said the state government would continue to ensure a good working environment for workers by not owing salaries and terminating anybody’s appointment.

Although he was worried about the diminishing rate of availability of fund which he said might be a hindrance, he said the government was looking towards improving its IGR.

“For us to meet that aspiration and ensure that we key into that vision, all hands must be on deck to ensure that we are strengthened from within and taking all the revenue sources that we need to pay,” he said.
