The Ogun State Police Command has deployed personnel to forestall any breakdown of law and order by some students in Abeokuta, the state capital.

This comes amid series of protests by students of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) over the delay in the conduct of examinations since September.

While the students claim the demonstration has been staged peacefully, police officers and patrol vehicles were stationed on Wednesday at strategic places, including Panseke where students were said to have been meeting.

Academic activities at MAPOLY have been grounded for the past three months following a faceoff between the state government and members of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) in the institution.

The lingering disagreement between the government and lecturers of the institution is reported to be a fallout of the relocation of the institution to Ipokia, also in Ogun State.
