Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike is seeking the withdrawal of money from the excess crude account to tackle environmental challenges in the Niger Delta.

The governor made his position known while reacting to the approval given by the Governor’s Forum to the Federal Government for the withdrawal of $1billion from the Excess Crude Account for the fight against insurgency.

Governor Wike told journalists after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja that while he supports the fight against insurgency, the approval by the Governor’s Forum is illegal.

On the reason of his visit, Wike said he briefed the president about security issues in his state, without giving further details.
