Saraki, Atiku, Dogara Wish Nigerians Best Of 2018

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and Nigeria’s former Vice President Atiku Abubakar have sent their New Year messages to Nigerians, wishing citizens the best of the New Year.

Saraki in his message wish Nigerians happiness in 2018 and asked them to look into the year with the understanding that better days lie ahead.

“In this New Year, let us all rise up with the courage and determination to make Nigeria better. Every Nigerian deserves a chance to live a better life. This is why the Senate, and the 8th National Assembly as a whole, will continue to collaborate with the executive to ensure that all the policies and programmes of the present administration that are targeted at making life more meaningful for people across the country become actualised.

“We will not spare any efforts in passing laws that will serve as catalysts for our economic stability and growth. We will always continue pushing to pass pieces of legislation that will help make Nigerian businesses thrive across the nation. We will also continue to work hard to pass Bills that will help to put more money back in the pockets of every Nigerian man and woman — as well as create more jobs and opportunities for all our young people,” he said.

Saraki said further that most of the problems that threatening the unity, progress and peace of Nigeria are rooted in the poor state of the economy, therefore, there is a need for governments at all levels and to citizenry to work together this year to ensure the success of policies that have been set-up to rebuild the economy, attract more foreign investment, and make the nation more self-sufficient.

Former Nigeria’s Vice President Atiku Abubakar in his New Year message expressed hope that Nigerians will remain united in the New Year and called on Nigerians to tell all that 2018 will be the beginning of the renaissance of Nigeria.

“As we step into the New Year, my hope for Nigeria is that all Nigerians will be united. It is my hope that this year will bring out the empowerment of Nigerians and that through increased job opportunities, Nigeria will be working again.

It is my hope that all Nigerians will live in a safe and secure country. It is my hope that all Nigerians will live in an economy that provides them the quality of life they deserve and our youth have the opportunity to receive an education that sets the standard for all of Africa and the world. My commitment in this new year is to help ensure that Nigeria will rise again and that the hopes of all Nigerians become a reality,” he said.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara wants Nigerians to renew their commitment to the unity and progress of Nigeria in the New Year. In his message he said Nigerians should draw on the lessons learnt in the outgoing year to strengthen the bonds of unity, solidarity and peace.

He commended the resilience and determination of Nigerians in the midst of daunting challenges, expressed optimism that better days are ahead.

“The New Year presents an opportunity for stock-taking and a strong resolve to sustain the gains of Nigeria’s exit from economic recession. Improvement of Nigeria’s economy, security and welfare of Nigerians must remain our priority in the New Year.

“As a people, we must continue to imbibe the spirit of togetherness and love for one another. We must also support government at all levels by contributing our quota in the generation of wealth and alleviation of poverty in the land,” he said.‎
