The Federal Government says it is committed to securing the lives and properties of residents in Rivers State, following the recent attack by unindetified gunmen.

The Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Danbazzau, made this known on Friday when he visited the governor at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

The Minister said he was in the state to do an on the ground assessment of the security situation in the state, following recent violent attacks.

In his response, the governor, Nyesom Wike raised an alarm over alleged plans by some politicians to make the state unsafe.

He called on the Federal Government and the security agencies to treat the issues of security apolitically.
