2019 Elections: Reps Vote To Amend Electoral Act

The House of Representatives on Tuesday voted for the change of the order of elections in the country.

The Green Chamber is proposing that the National Assembly election would come first, followed by the governorship and state Houses of Assembly election; while the presidential election would come last.

The House at a committee of the Whole, chaired by the Deputy Speaker, Hon Yussuff Lasun, took the decision while considering the report on a bill to further amend the Electoral Act 2010.

Presently, the presidential and National Assembly elections come first, with the governorship and state Houses of Assembly coming last.
