The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has closed the runway of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in the nation’s capital, Abuja, temporarily.

The runway will be closed for 30 minutes, according to FAAN.

“This is to enable the Authority to take safety precautions, as a private jet being operated by Nest Oil has just skidded off the Abuja runway,” a statement by the General Manager, Corporate Affairs, FAAN, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, notifying passengers of the decision, said.

“The aircraft lost its landing gear in the process but all hands are on deck to put the situation under control and normalcy would be restored within the hour.”
