As the Election into Local Government councils holds in 71 wards across the state, the polling unit of Iremo, Ward III in Ife Central, Ife was disrupted with violence as there were shootings by some suspected political thugs.

The hoodlums were reported to have stormed the ward shooting sporadically into the air to scare voters.

The Chairman of Accord party in Osun State, Olusegun Fanibe speaking with Channels Television alleged that the voting process was marred by the thugs allegedly sent by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Fanibe kicked against the whole process saying, “I can name the OSIEC as a total fraud. Before now, I reserved my comments because I wanted to see how today is going to be. I don’t know what this particular OSIEC stands for.

“Today’s election is a total mess. Accord Party joins to contest in the election not because we trust the government or we trust in OSIEC but our purpose is to represent the people so we take the chance of coming out giving the incumbent a benefit of doubt. We have gotten several opinions from the people that we should not bother ourselves but I don’t want to believe that until it happened today,” he said.

He claimed further that the political thugs arrived Modakeke as early as 3:14 am in a white minibus. The political according to Fanibe went to where election materials were kept carting away the sensitive materials.

Meanwhile, Senator Babajide Omoworare refuted the claims of Accord Party saying, he can’t do such thing in the ward that he came from.

He maintained that the success of the election is his pride but the Accord Party has disrupted the exercise knowing that APC will win at the polling units.
