Senate Passes N8.916trn 2019 Budget

The Senate on Thursday suspended plenary after a fire outbreak in a room in National Assembly.

A fire at a room in the Senate Wing of the National Assembly complex caused smoke to pour through the air conditioning system to the chamber, resulting in the adjournment.

Although the fire was put out without escalating to other rooms, the chamber was deemed unconducive for the continuation of plenary.

Senate President Bukola Saraki ruled that plenary be adjourned to Tuesday after Senator Abdullahi Gobir raised a point of order, insisting that the chamber was not conducive for lawmakers.
