Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has been nominated for the Champions League Player of the Week award, the Premier League side said.
The Senegalese was nominated after he struck a hat-trick in the emphatic 5-0 victory over FC Porto in the first leg of their last-16 tie on Wednesday.
Mane is on a four-man shortlist for the prize alongside Ilkay Gundogan (Manchester City), Christian Eriksen (Tottenham Hotspur) and Marcelo (Real Madrid).
Sadio Mane’s hat-trick at FC Porto was the reward for his refusal to allow an indifferent run of form to get the better of him.
Despite huge strikes against Burnley and Manchester City in January, the 25-year-old has not been in his best form – but continued to put in the hard yards in an effort to rediscover his best.
His determination, however, yielded a positive result when Liverpool travelled to Portugal for the Champions League clash against Porto where Mane registered an outstanding hat-trick.
