APC Supporters In Delta Ask Buhari To Seek Re-election

Elders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta North have passed a vote of confidence on President Muhammadu Buhari, urging him to run for the 2019 presidential election.

In a communiqué signed by Chief Hyacinth Enuha, after a caucus meeting of the Delta North leaders at the home of Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, the leaders resolved that Buhari had performed well and should be given another chance to run the second term in the 2019 general elections

The caucus also agreed that from the inception of the present democratic system in Nigeria, the Delta central and south had produced the governor of Delta state and completed terms of two tenure each, hence it was fair and equitable for the Delta north to complete its second term under the platform With assurances that the party has the capacity to win the gubernatorial election in Delta state, the meeting also resolves that it will achieve this laudable objective by constantly keeping in touch with delta south and central to help them produce a sellable candidate through whom it would wrestle power from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

The group has called on eligible candidates/aspirants from the zone to declare interest and vie for the position of the governorship of the state adding that all hands must be on deck to ensure the APC clinches power from the PDP in 2019

Below Is the Full Communique;

A communique issued at the end of the meeting of an expanded caucus of Delta North APC at Onicha-ugbo, Aniocha North L.G.A. On 16th February 2018

The caucus met to review and deliberate on the following issues.
The failure of PDP led Delta State Government
The 2019 gubernatorial election in Delta state.
The Federal APC administration.
The Security situation in Nigeria.
Restructuring

THE FAILURE OF PDP LED DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT:

The caucus notes that the Delta State PDP Government has performed abysmally and the need to change the government cannot be overemphasized.

THE 2019 GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION IN DELTA STATE:

The caucus notes that on the issue of gubernatorial election in 2019, the Delta State APC must strategize properly to enable it to win elections. In doing so, caucus considered that since Delta North is currently serving its four-year term, the APC will do well to produce its gubernatorial candidate from Delta North to complete the Delta North term.

Caucus also notes that in order to secure the gubernatorial candidate for Delta North, leaders of caucus must liaise and solicit with leaders of Delta South and Delta Central.

THE FEDERAL APC ADMINISTRATION:
Caucus discussed the performance of the Buhari’s administration and noted particularly that the APC administration has been superb in the area of the economy. For the first time, the GDP has grown tremendously. The stock exchange is the best performing in Africa. The unemployment rate has reduced drastically. The foreign reserve has risen to 42 billion dollars.

In the area of corruption, Interpol has recommended the Nigerian model in battling corruption for the whole of Africa. The president Buhari’s anti-corruption war has been described as most successful by the international community.

Caucus also noted that the infrastructural development including rehabilitation and construction of roads, development and construction of rail lines across the country, power generation above 7000 megawatts shows that the Buhari’s administration is on the right track.

SECURITY SITUATION IN NIGERIA:
Caucus notes that the war against Boko Haram has reached its final stage and Boko Haram has been wiped out. Caucus also notes that the federal government has mobilized the military across the country to tackle the menace of herdsmen and the successful war against kidnapping as exemplified in the arrest and persecution of Evans in Lagos and the killing of Don Wanny and his cohorts in Port-Harcourt, which are major breakthroughs in the security effort of the federal government.

RESTRUCTURING:
Our great party the APC has come out strongly to support restructuring and state police and this is laudable for a ruling party in an African setup.
