A huge pandemonium nearly occurred in Rumuokoro area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital on Sunday after a taxi driver was allegedly shot by a police officer.
The commissioner of Police in the state, Zaki Ahmed told Channels Television that troubled started when the driver allegedly obstructed an oncoming police patrol vehicle, preventing it from having its way.

According to him, an officer who alighted from the patrol van hit his gun on the body of the taxi and it exploded. He said the bullet hit and killed the taxi driver on the spot.
He also explained that security operatives have been moved to the scene to quell a possible escalation of the matter while investigations are on the matter.
