The Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) has commended the Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, for the remarkable successes recorded by his administration in the state despite “the harsh economic climate” in the country.

President of the body, Alhaji Shehu Usman Ladan, gave the commendation during a visit to the governor in the state capital.

“This government renovated, rehabilitated and re-equipped primary and secondary schools in the state, which were in a deplorable state. Your Excellency recruited over 2000 primary school teachers through Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board to improve the standard of teaching and learning in the state.

“Your Excellency has taken giant strides to reposition tertiary education in the state by upgrading the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu to a degree awarding institution and released hundreds of millions of Naira to the institution to enable it meet the accreditation needs of its courses. Similar gestures were also extended to other tertiary institutions in the state,” he said.

Furthermore, the ANAN president noted that the governor empowered the security operatives by “procuring a good number of vehicles for them to operate.

He also added that the state government released money for the reactivation of the activities of vigilante groups in all the communities.

Responding to the comments, Ugwuanyi reiterated his administration’s commitment towards working with the association in serving the people of the state.

He also underscored the importance of the role of the association developing the economy.

“I assure you of the readiness of the state government to partner with the association towards the achievement of its objectives more, especially as they relate to the well-being of the government and people of Enugu State,” he said.
