The Senator Representing Kaduna Central at the Red Chambers, Shehu Sani, on Tuesday took a swipe at the state Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator condemned the demolition of the new APC faction secretariat, a building belonging to Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi.

The group opened the secretariat at 11B Sambo close in the state capital last week Thursday due to irreconcilable differences with the main party leadership.

Coming under a point of order, Senator Sani said he wonders why Governor El-Rufai a democratically elected governor would demolish a building without notice.

He said further that the demolition is coming a year after the residence of the Vice Chairman of APC, North West Zone was allegedly demolished by Governor El-Rufai.

The Senate during the plenary also condemned the demolition of the building which was reportedly demolished in the early hours of today under the supervision of soldiers.

Explaining the reasons behind the demolition, the State Urban Planning and Development Agency (KAPSUDA) said the building was removed for “flagrant violations of land use and non-payment of ground rent since 2010.”

KAPSUDA’s Director-General, Ibrahim Husseini said the move was facilitated with assistance from sister agencies aimed at restoring “order” across the state.

“This morning a building on 11B Sambo Close was removed for flagrant violations of land use and non-payment of ground rent since 2010.

The Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Agency (KAPSUDA is currently undertaking operations across Kaduna metropolis in compliance with its mandate,” he said.

Senator Hunkuyi however pointed accusing finger at Governor El-Rufai. He alleged that the Governor El Rufai personally led the demolition of the property.
