The Federal Government delegation has visited Damaruru, Yobe State to meet with the state government officials and the principal of the Government Science and Technical college, Dapchi, where over a hundred students have been declared missing.

The delegation is calling on the Federal Government to increase its military personnel in the area of attack.

This is the second time in four days that a Federal Government delegation would visit Yobe over the issue of the missing Dapchi girls.

Part of the delegation is the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, Minister of Interior, Abdulrahaman Danbazau, Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, District Head of Dapchi Kachallah Yuroma Kamba, elders and politicians.

Governor Shettima expressed concern over the abduction and called for cooperation of everyone towards the rescue of the girls.

The State Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam, on his part appealed to the Federal Government for more recruitment of military and police force to increase manpower on the ground.

The Governor said the withdrawal of personnel in Buniyadi caused the killings of the student of FGC and also the Dapchi abduction.

He commended the security forces but noted that more efforts need to be made.

Governor Gaidam had earlier blamed the abduction of the Dapchi schoolgirls on the withdrawal of security personnel from communities in the state.

Addressing journalists on Saturday at the Yobe state Government House, he alleged that security checkpoints were withdrawn from Dapchi and other communities, few days before the attack, a development which he believes gave room for the incident.

“There was not any justification whatsoever to withdraw the military from that place, knowing fully well that there is a girls’ school there with about 900 of them and it’s a local government headquarters.

“They withdrew the military personnel last week, which was not even known to us,” he said.
