A retired Army Captain, Mr Umar Aliyu has urged the government to intensify efforts towards rescuing the abducted students of Government Girls Science and Technical College Dapchi, Yobe state.

He made the call when he made an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Monday.

“The Dapchi incident was as unfortunate as it was avoidable.To You have your children within the grip of these people, then you must do your utmost to ensure they return safely,” he said.

Aliyu’s comments come three weeks after 110 students were declared missing by the school authorities after Boko Haram invaded the town.

The abduction has once again put a question mark on the Federal Government’s war against insecurity.

Many prominent individuals especially the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have accused President Muhammadu Buhari of feasting rather than paying a condolence visit to the parents.

But regardless, the president has promised to do all it can to ensure that the girls are rescued.
