Many Feared Dead After Land Dispute

The Cross River State Police Command says, it has arrested and paraded several youths for various offences ranging from, conspiracy and rape, defiling of a thirteen-year-old child who was running an errand for her mother, armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism among others.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Hafiz Inuwa, paraded the suspects at the state’s CID in Calabar the state capital where he disclosed that all the suspects will be charged to Court to face the law.

Briefing pressmen CP Inuwa disclosed said among suspects being paraded today is one,  Effiong Edet Eyo who had been on the police wanted list since 2016 for shooting and murder of one Ekerette Dick, a sergeant attached to the 11 police Mobile Squadron, Calabar.

In all, 47 suspects are presently cooling off at the State’s CID in preparation to be handed over to relevant security agencies for onward prosecution.

But a Constitutional Lawyer, Leonard Anyogo, advocates that Crime victims should be provided with the adequate security of their lives by relevant agencies to allow them freely appear as a witness in courts to aid quick dispensation of Justice rather than, continuous adjournment.

As the Police continually dimes it’s torchlight on crime perpetrators across Cross River state and beyond, the continuous cooperation of government at all levels and the general public remains useful towards achieving a crime free society.
