US President Donald Trump congratulated his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on securing another four year term in office, the White House said Monday.
Lauding the “strategic partnership” between their countries, the White House made no mention of doubts about the fairness of the vote, in which Sisi won 97 percent of valid ballots cast.
“President Trump congratulated President Al Sisi on his reelection,’ the White House said.
“The two leaders affirmed the strategic partnership between the United States and Egypt, and noted that they look forward to advancing this partnership and addressing common challenges.”
