Troops deployed in Army Exercise Ayem Akpatuma, also known as Cat Race, have killed one herdsman and rescued two persons in Benue State.

The Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Texas Chukwu, revealed this in a statement on Saturday.

He said the soldiers intercepted a large number of armed herdsmen on Tuesday in Asom village in Guma Local Government Area of the state, following a tip-off.

“The bandits on sighting the troops at Ukaa and Babban Ruwa area opened fire on them. One herdsman was killed during the encounter,” Brigadier General Chukwu said.

He added that soldiers on patrol, elsewhere, rescued the two persons who were shot by suspected herdsmen along Gbajimba -Kaseyo road in Benue.
