The Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of the eighth principal suspect connected to the recent bank robbery in Offa, Kwara State which claimed many lives with several others injured.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, disclosed this to journalists on Sunday.
He said that the Inspector General of Police, (IGP) Ibrahim Idris, redeployed a high-powered police investigation team to work with the Kwara State Criminal and investigation department which resulted in the arrest of the eighth principal suspect.
“The Inspector General of Police, (IGP) Ibrahim Idris, was concerned with the Banks Robbery attack in Offa, Kwara State and ordered the deployment of three Police Mobile Force Units, high powered police investigation team, Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) with ten crew members and Anti-Robbery equipment to Kwara State”.
The arrested suspects he said are “Assisting the police to investigate the incident, they are being withheld but will be disclosed after the arrest of the remaining suspects and completion of the investigation into the crime”, he added.
Earlier on Saturday, the Kwara State Government placed N5million bounty on the suspects behind the robbery attack in Offa Local Government area of the state.
The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed on Media and Communications, Muideen Akorede, told journalists in the state that the money will be offered to anyone who can provide information that will lead to the arrest and prosecution of the suspects.
“The Governor is deeply saddened by the tragic incident that happened at Offa. “He considers it to be very wicked on the part of the robbers who unleashed such violence on the people and community of Offa”. Mr Akorede said.
