Senate Adjourns Plenary For APU Conference
The Senate on Tuesday, April 10, observes a minute of silence in honour of the members who died recently.

The Senate House on Tuesday suspended its plenary in honour of two members of the National Assembly, who died recently.

The House did this as a mark of respect to Senator Bukar Mustapha who died on Wednesday, April 4. The Senator before his demise was representing President Muhammadu Buhari’s senatorial district, Katsina North.

President Buhari on Thursday visited Daura, Katsina State to observe the third-day prayers for late Senator and condole with his families.

The Senate had earlier lost the member representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Umar Buba Jibrin. He died on March 30, 2018.

Jibril until his death was the Deputy Majority Leader of the House of Representatives.

The Senate, during plenary on Tuesday, stood down all items on the order paper and adjourned till Wednesday after adopting a motion by the Senate Leader, Ahmed Lawan.

The national flag and flowers were also placed on Bukar’s seat in the House as the lawmakers observed a minute silence as a sign of respect for the deceased.

Senate President Bukola Saraki announced that a valedictory service will be held for the deceased lawmakers on Wednesday.
