As part of efforts achieve constant power supply, Akwa Ibom state Governor,  Udom Emmanuel, has rehabilitated the Afaha Ube Transmission substation in Uyo, the state capital with the inauguration of two new transformers.

While Inaugurating the project, Governor Emmanuel warned the public against building under high tension power lines.

Commissioning the new 132/33Kv and 60 MVA electricity transformers, the governor said the event was to further demonstrate his administration’s commitment to achieving steady power supply in all parts of the state; noting that with the development, the state has moved even closer to achieving this target.

While warning against building houses under electric power lines, the governor appealed to youths in the host community to protect the facility against vandals and urged them to take full advantage of the steady power supply by engaging in profitable businesses.

The Managing Director of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Victor Adewumi, in his remarks, said that the project was in line with President Muhammadu’s Buhari ‘s policy to ensure constant power supply in the country.

He noted that with the new transformers, the capacity of the substation has been upgraded from 120 MVA to 180 MVA to cover about 10 Local Government Areas.
