The wife of a traditional ruler in Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo State was over the weekend abducted by some yet-to-be-identified gunmen.

Channels Television gathered that the Queen, Olukemi Agunloye, and the driver were kidnapped on Sunday morning between Auga and Ise Akoko towns while they were on a trip to Ugbe-Akoko in the same local government area.
Confirming the incident, the traditional ruler, Oba Samuel Agunloye said he was informed of the news of the abduction by eyewitnesses, who saw his vehicle abandoned on the road, after the abduction of his wife and driver.

Oba Agunloye said efforts to reach the victims through phone calls failed as their phones were switched off.
Also confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, Femi Joseph, said a search party has commenced operation to rescue the Queen and bring the perpetrators of the heinous act to book.
He appealed to residents of Akoko and Ondo State to be calm, assuring of adequate security of lives and property.
