Commuters heading out of Lagos State via the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Thursday morning were stuck in a gridlock for hours after a container fell on the expressway.
The container fell off the flatbed truck carrying it on the Kara Bridge axis of the expressway, preventing vehicular traffic.
There was no casualty in the incident as no vehicle was hit by the container as it fell.
As a result of the incident, however, several vehicles were stuck in a gridlock that stretched from the Kara Bridge toward Ojodu Berger.
Stranded drivers and commuters were seen at the scene of the accident with others standing by their vehicles as efforts were being made to remove the container from the road.
Men of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) who were deployed to the scene of the accident eventually got the container of the expressway and normal vehicular movement has since resumed.
The Kara Bridge axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway is a bit notorious for accidents.
In January this year, there was a multiple-accident there with one of the vehicles involved falling off the bridge.
In November 2017, there were at least two multiple-accidents there with a total of seven people losing their lives.
