Men of the Nigeria Police Force have also blocked the entrance to the Ekiti State Government House.

This follows after the disperse of supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporters by security operatives from the venue of the planned rally.

The State Governor, Ayodele Fayose disclosed this on his Twitter page.

He said, “This is the entrance to Ekiti Govt House now blocked by gun-wielding mobile policemen.

“The plan is to prevent our victory walk slated for today but we will remain undeterred.

“Power of God and the people will prevail over Federal Power”.

He further stated that heavy gunshots were heard in front of the government house by the policemen working with the ruling party (APC).

Earlier, the PDP supporters had converged at the popular Fajuyi Park in Ado Ekiti, the state capital on Wednesday before gunshots were reportedly fired into the air.

The rally comes in preparation towards the governorship election slated to hold on Saturday.

The state governor had afterward attempted to lead the supporters back to the park but the move was thwarted security operatives who reportedly fired gunshots into the air again.

The development resulted in the relocation of the rally to the Government House premises, where Governor Ayodele Fayose and other PDP leaders are expected to address the party members.
