Members of the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have stormed the National Assembly, protesting over the alleged attack by the men of the Nigeria Police Force on the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose.
The National Chairman of the party, Uche Secondus who led the members to the Assembly complex on Thursday were stopped by security officials at the entrance of the gate.
The protest comes after the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, broke down on Wednesday while accusing policemen of beating, shooting at him, and brutalising Peoples Democratic Party supporters in the state.
“They (the police) are beating anybody who has any sign of PDP on them. They are not picking our calls; they’ve made up their minds to do this evil.

“I am in pain, I am in severe pain. I can’t turn this neck anymore. If anything happens to me, the Inspector-General of Police should be held accountable,” the governor told reporters while crying at the rally.
The governor also criticised the police for dispersing supporters of the PDP from the popular Fajuyi Park in Ado Ekiti where they had gathered for a rally ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
But the police have explained that dispersed the rally to prevent potential violence between PDP supporters and those of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
However, the protesting PDP members are seeking the intervention of the National Assembly to caution the actions of the security personnel deployed to the state.
Meanwhile, some PDP youths in Osun State are protesting at the headquarters, asking the NWC to prevail upon the state chairman of the party, and prevent the imposition of candidate in next week’s governorship primaries in the state.
