The Nigerian Army has effected a shake-up in its high command which affects the Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole and other top positions in the force.

In a statement on Friday by the Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Texas Chukwu, Major General Ahmed Dikko was appointed the new Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole.

Brigadier General Chukwu explained that the posting, which also re-organised the operation, was aimed at injecting new hands to further actualise the vision of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai.

He added that the posting affected principal staff officers both at the Defence and Army Headquarters, as well as General Officers Commanding (GOCs).

Brigadier General AO Abdullahi and Brigadier General UU Bassey were also appointed as the Acting Commanders of Sector II and III of Operation LAFIYA DOLE respectively.

Others include Major General CO Ude who was posted as the Force Commander Multinational Joint Task Force, Ndjamena, Chad’s capital, and Major General J Sarham as General Officer Commanding 6 Division.

Major General EB Kabuk, Major General MS Yusuf, and Major General BA Akinroluyo were appointed as the General Officers Commanding 82 Division, 81 Division, and 3 Division respectively.

Similarly, Major General LEO Irabor was posted as the Chief of Defence Training and Operations in the Defence Headquarters while Major General LO Adeosun was directed to take over as Chief of Training and Operations at the Army Headquarters.

Other postings are Major General HO Otiki – Commander Infantry Corps, Major General CU Agulanna – Chief of Accounts and Budget Nigerian Army, and Major General JE Jakko – Chief of Defence Finance and Budget at the Defence Headquarters.

The rest are Major General AB Abubakar, Major General A Mohammed, and Major General LKJ Ogunewe, among others who were asked to proceed to the Nigerian Army Resource Centre on Course.

Brigadier General Chukwu said all postings and appointments take effect from Wednesday, August 1.
