The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus, has assured the Senate President Bukola Saraki and the three governors who defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), that history will be kind to them.
He said this on Thursday during the 81st National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party in Abuja.
The National Chairman hailed the Senate President and governors of Benue, Sokoto, and Kwara, saying they took a bold step which will not be in vain.
“The bold steps you took to return to the party where you truly belong, is a sacrifice not for yourself but for Nigeria and history will be fair to you”, he said.
He described the Senate President as the key a renewed struggle to free Nigeria.
“Today is the beginning of the great journey to freedom, the great journey to free our people and rescue this country from the damage done to it by the APC in the last three years”.
The National Chairman expressed regret that agencies of government established to protect the people have been deployed to assault institutions of democracy by the Federal Government.
He referred to the incidences involving security agencies in Ekiti, Benue states and the homes of the Senate President and his deputy.
He said that the country is going astray under the watch of “APC Federal Government rather than confronting the challenges they continue to feign ignorance of the situation” as he predicted that the PDP will take over Aso Villa in 2019.
Secondus who led the members of the NEC to observe a minute silence for souls of innocent Nigerians killed across the country said that rather than defend the country, security agents have been deployed to harass and intimidate opponents and those with dissenting voices.
Meanwhile, the Senate President in his response said he and his defecting colleagues are happy to be back home where they truly belong.
He (Saraki) commended the turnout of the event but warned that the battle is not over until victory is achieved come February 2019.
Earlier at the National Office, the steering committee of the Coalition of United political parties CUPP was inaugurated, the National Chairman charged members of the coalition to be ready for the challenges ahead and rescue Nigeria from the APC.
