Matthew Seiyefa has replaced Lawal Musa Daura as the new Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Seiyefa, who hails from Bayelsa State, was until the appointment the Assistant DG.

He was also the Director of the National Institute of Strategic Studies in Abuja.

With about 34 years of experience, Seiyefa has served in different capacities, including the State Director in Osun, Akwa Ibom, and Lagos States.

Shortly after the new appointment, the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, held a meeting with the acting DSS DG and the Chairman of the  Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ibrahim Magu.

Osinbajo had ordered the termination of Daura’s appointment hours after officials of the DSS stormed the National Assembly on Tuesday.

They barricaded the entrance, preventing lawmakers from getting in.

Journalists were also barred from entering the complex with the DSS officials claiming that the blockage was an order “from above.”

Oshiomhole Calls For Saraki’s Resignation After Meeting Buhari

Angered by the move, the lawmakers alleged that it was an attempt to aid the impeachment of Senate President Bukola Saraki and the Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu.

While the PDP had earlier accused the APC of having plans to impeach the Senate President and forcefully take over control of the National Assembly, the APC has since distanced itself from the incident.

National Chairman of the party Adams Oshiomhole had on Wednesday, called for Saraki’s impeachment following his defection to the PDP.

However, the APC today, said Oshiomhole had nothing to do with the developments.
