NASS Blockage By Security Operatives, A Disgrace To Our Democratic Process – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to the blockage of National Assembly entrance by security operatives, describing it as a disgrace to Nigeria’s democratic process.

The National Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Ologbondiyan, said this on Tuesday during an interview on Channels Television’s Breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily.

“What we are facing now, honestly is a disgrace to our democratic process,” he said while condemning the refusal of security operatives to grant lawmakers and journalists entry into the National Assembly.

He accused the current administration of lacking ‘strategy’ and engaging in acts that could undermine Nigeria’s democracy.

“The basic thing I have noticed in the Buhari administration is the lack of tact and strategy because all these things that are playing out are unknown in our political history since 1999.

“That security (operatives) would block the access and stop journalists, members of the public and stop parliamentarians from coming in,” he added.

He further accused the executive arm of the government of using the state’s security apparatus to prevent the members of parliament from doing their normal business.

His criticism comes a day after the PDP gave an earlier warning of alleged plans to impeach the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu.

Earlier today, men of the Nigeria Police and the Department of State Service (DSS) stormed the National Assembly denying lawmakers and journalists access into the complex.
