An employee of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), John Iliya, has been killed by the Boko Haram terrorist group in Borno State.

NEMA Head of Media and Public Relations, Mr Sani Datti, confirmed this in a statement on Thursday.

Datti revealed that Iliya was murdered on Wednesday at Damasak town in Mobbar Local Government Area of the state.

He said the Director-General of NEMA, Mustapha Maihaja, and the management staff have mourned the deceased.

Maihaja consequently dispatched a team of officials to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital to facilitate the return of Iliya’s remains to his family.

On behalf of the agency, the NEMA DG also condoled with the family of the deceased over the loss.

Until his demise, Iliya was an excavator operator with the emergency agency and was attached to the military.
