The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, has condoled with the family members of police officers killed recently in Kaduna.

The IGP described the slain officers as heroes who paid the supreme price.

He then directed that befitting burials be conducted for them and called for prompt processing and payments of the life assurance benefits and other entitlements to their families.

This was disclosed in a statement signed on Tuesday by Force Public Relations Officer Jimoh Moshood.

“The IGP mourns the unfortunate death of the deceased police officers and describes them as heroes of the Force who laid down their lives and paid the supreme price in ensuring the protection of lives and property and law and order in the country,” the statement read in part.

Four policemen were killed in a gun duel on Saturday, August 11, after they were ambushed by gangs of armed bandits and kidnappers in Rigasa Forest, Kaduna State.

The incident occurred while they were returning from operations.

The police force, however, noted that the team leader and other personnel of the IGP-IRT repelled the attack and killed six of the bandits, recovering firearms, and ammunition from their hideouts in Rigasa forest.

The deceased officers include Inspector Bernard Odibo, Inspector Mamman Abubakar, Inspector Haruna Ibrahim and Sergeant Emmanuel Istifanus

The Force vowed that despite the unfortunate attack and killing of the officers, it will not relent in ensuring that crimes and criminalities are reduced in the country.
