The Zamfara State Police Command has deployed 1,200 policemen to provide adequate security across the state during and after the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The Public Relations Officer, Mr Mohammed Shehu, revealed this in a statement on Monday.
He said police personnel were deployed in vulnerable communities that have witnessed series of attacks by armed bandits recently, particularly those in Zurmi, Maru, Maradun, Shinkafi and Anka Local Government Areas of the state.
Mr Shehu added that the Command has reinforced crime fighting logistics for effective and high visibility patrols through stop and search operations as well as raiding of criminal hideouts.
According to him, other security measures put in place include deployment of Safer Highway Patrol teams to all major roads in the state.
The Command’s spokesperson explained that this was to ensure the security and safety of travellers, as well as to utilise other relevant platforms to ensure all security agencies were proactively able to deal with any security threat.
He assured the people of Zamfara that the security arrangement would cover all praying grounds, shopping malls and recreational centres in the state.
