The Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has sworn in the newly elected local government chairmen in the state.
At the swearing-in ceremony which took place at the Government House in Owerri on Monday, the governor charged the new chairmen to ensure that they commit themselves to meaningful projects and programmes in their respective communities at the grassroots.
According to him, the people have yearned for a representative for a long time and they proved their desire by going out in large numbers to vote in candidates of their choice.
He, therefore, said to whom much is given, much is expected.

The governor further stated that his administration will continue to embark on developmental projects that will ensure that people at the grassroots also benefit from the dividends of democracy.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) won all the 27 chairmanship seats.
Chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC), Mr Ethelbert Ebebuchi, revealed this on Sunday in Owerri.
