The Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, has declared his intention to run for the Senate come 2019.
He made the announcement on Saturday on his Twitter page.
The governor said he picked up the nomination and expression of interest form of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Kwara south senatorial district following calls by his people to run for the office.

According to him, the decision to pick up the form was in response to the commendation given to him on the work done in all three zones of the state, through effective, purposeful representation.
Similarly, the Senator representing Kwara South Senatorial District, Rafiu Ibrahim, said he has also obtained a nomination form and expression of interest form to run for a second term under the platform of the PDP.
He said he was called by his constituents to return to the Senate adding that he will abide by whatever the decision of the party on the likely candidate which could be consensus or primary.
