2019 Elections: My Survival From Gunshot Is A Call To Service, Says Bamidele

A former member of the House Of Representatives, Opeyemi Bamidele, has made a bid to return to the National Assembly after surviving from a gunshot accident.

Bamidele told journalists at his residence in Iyin Ekiti on Sunday that he believes his survival from the accident is a fresh call to service.

According to him, God has spared his life for him to serve humanity.

“I am running for an election into the Senate. Part of what is informing this decision is that I believe that I have been saved to serve.

“God had a purpose for preserving my life. I believe part of the purpose is to be alive to continue and serve God in a renewed manner and on the side, to continue to serve humanity,” he said.

Bamidele narrating his experience of how he was hit by a gun bullet said the intention of the attacker was probably to terminate his life but, “God navigated the bullet, in such a way that it wasn’t going to bring an end to my life. God overcame and overturned the situation.”

Bamidele was shot by a police officer during a political rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti state in June.

Although the police said it was an accidental discharge, APC chairman in the state, Mr Jide Awe claimed that the shooting was aimed at the APC governorship candidate, Kayode Fayemi, but Bamidele accidentally fell victim of the shot.
