The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Suleiman Kazaure, has warned corp members to be apolitical and vigilant.

He gave this warning on Tuesday while addressing corps members during his visit to the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Ede, Osun State.

“The Osun State governorship election is coming on the 22nd of this month. Some of you are going to be used as INEC Ad-Hoc staff. Gentlemen, be neutral wherever you find yourself,” he said.

Kazaure also warned the corps members not to collect anything from politicians or allow themselves to be induced by party agents to commit electoral malpractice.

He said anyone caught would be left to face the wrath of the law.

The NYSC DG also advised the corps members to be security conscious during the polls as they work as ad-hoc staff of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC).

He assured them of their safety by the security personnel deployed for the election and stressed the need for the corps members to carry out their duty diligently.

“You must be neutral and non-partisan,” Kazaure insisted. “We expect high level of neutralism and patriotism. Shun every form of inducement by politicians.”

“Don’t collect anything from anybody. Don’t allow yourselves to be involved in election malpractice.”

The Brigadier General also used the occasion of his visit to officially commission the NYSC four-bedroom clinic, built through the self-efforts of the state coordinator and his staff.
