The campaign organisation of the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Adeleke Ademola, has described his invitation by the police as a threat to democracy.
The Director-General of the Campaign Organisation, Lere Oyewunmi, told journalists in Ede on Wednesday that an institution like the Police ought to be neutral and apolitical at all times.
He said the confirmation by West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC) that senator Adeleke sat for the final examination at Muslim Grammar School in Ede should lay to rest all allegations surrounding the certificate issue rather than compound it.

Alleged Exam Malpractice: Buhari Stops IGP From Inviting Senator Adeleke
Oyewunmi, however, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his intervention.
The Police had filed charges against the senator for alleged examination malpractice, aiding and abetting, impersonation, and criminal conspiracy.
It asked Adeleke to report to the Special Investigation Panel alongside Mr Sikiru Adeleke, Alhaji Aregbesola Mufutau (Principal of Ojo-Aro Community Grammar School, Egbedore LGA, Osun State), Mr Gbadamosi Thomas Ojo (School Staff allegedly responsible for the registration of candidates for NECO) and Mr Dare Olutope (School teacher who allegedly facilitated the commission of the crime).
But the President asked the police to halt the invitation until after the election on Saturday (September 22).
