APC NWC Voids National Assembly Primaries In Edo

 

The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has cancelled the National Assembly primaries held in Edo State.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the party’s acting National Publicity Secretary, Mr Yekini Nabena, said the exercise for the Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly was ‘unauthorised’.

He, therefore, stated that another committee will conduct a fresh election.

“The exercise conducted by unauthorized persons in collaboration with the Party’s Edo State Working Committee is hereby null and void.

“A primary election committee under the chairmanship of Hajia Farida Odangi Suleiman will be in Edo State later today (Thursday) to conduct the primaries into the Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly,” Nabena said.

He also reiterated the party’s commitment to conducting a “transparent primary in accordance with the guidelines and constitution of the APC.”

Furthermore, he admonished all party members in the state to cooperate with the committee to ensure an orderly, peaceful, transparent and credible exercise.
