The Kaduna State High Court will today rule on the bail application filed by the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife.
The presiding judge, Justice Gideon Kurada, fixed the date following the written application filed by his (El-Zakzaky’s) counsel for the bail of his clients during the last sitting on August 2, 2018.
The IMN leader is being tried over allegations of culpable homicide, unlawful assembly, and disruption of public peace, among other charges.
Himself and his wife were first arraigned on May 15, 2018, following their arrest in Zaria, in December 2015.
Ahead of the trial today, security operatives have already mounted roadblocks on major routes leading to the court along the Independence Way in the state capital.
Journalists, on the other hand, have been denied entry into the court premises.
