Kayode Fayemi has said that his government will not sacrifice the payment of salaries for white elephant projects.

“We will not sacrifice payment of workers salaries for white elephant projects in Ekiti State”

He stated this on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, during the swearing-in as the governor of the state.

Fayemi criticised the past government of Ayodele Fayose for owing salaries of about eight months, stating that he is here for the people of the state.

“I’m here for the people I’m not interested in a witchhunt.

“You can also be assured that I will not rest until the burning issue of payment of workers’ salaries is fully addressed”.

While addressing the crowd, after taking his oath of office, Fayemi said that the people of Ekiti State will know the true position of things in 100 days, because his government will be transparent and accountable.

He pledged his commitment to developing the state through health care, infrastructure, education and ensuring that social security returns to the elderly by equipping the hospitals.

He said he is ready to reclaim the state to achieve greater heights.

“We take full ownership of the challenges ahead of us and together we strongly believe that we shall overcome”.

At the swearing-in ceremony were members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), National Leader, Bola Tinubu, Bisi Akande, John Oyegun, amongst others.

Fayemi who is a former Minister of Solid Mineral and Development was elected as the governor of the state on July 15, 2018.
