Alleged Bribery: Witness Testifies As Rickey Tarfa’s Trial Continues

A Federal High Court in Asaba, the Delta State capital, has restrained the All Progressives Congress (APC) from submitting the list of its candidates from the state to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2019 general elections.

The presiding judge, Justice Toyin Adegoke, ordered APC’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, who was joined in the suit as the 2nd respondent with APC as 1st respondent, INEC and Prophet Jones Erue (the 3rd and 4th respondents, respectively) as well as the plaintiff to maintain status quo and desist from submitting any list of candidates from Delta State from the two factions of the party to INEC till the substantive suit filed is heard.

The Cyril Ogodo-led faction of the party in Delta had approached the court seeking an interlocutory injunction restraining APC, Adams Oshiomhole from submitting the list of candidates from the Jones Erue faction of the party to INEC.

Justice Adegoke said since pre-election matters require accelerated hearings, “this matter shall be given an accelerated hearing” as it is a pre-election matter.

“Parties shall maintain status quo as at today, the 17th day of November 2018. That is the order of this court.” Adegoke ruled.
