Major General Idris Alkali (retired) has been missing since September 3, 2018.

 

The District Head of Dura Du Village in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, Yakubu Rapp, has reported himself to the police.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Tyopev Mathias, confirmed this to Channels Television in an interview on Friday.

According to him, three other suspects – Timothy Chuwang, Mathew Chuwang, and Stephen Chuwang, also reported to the police in the afternoon.

The Command’s spokesman said some of the suspects came alongside with their lawyers.

The village head and the suspects reported to the Police Command the day after they were declared wanted along with four others in connection with the disappearance of Major General Idris Alkali (retd).

The suspects were declared wanted following preliminary investigations which indicated that they masterminded the abduction, assault and caused the disappearance of the retired Army officer.

Major General Alkali, a former Chief of Administration at the Army Headquarters, has been missing since September 3.

He went missing while travelling to Bauchi State from Abuja via Jos in a black Toyota Corolla.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army has discovered a shallow grave during its search of Major General Alkali.

Addressing reporters in Plateau State, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division, Major General Benson Akinroluyo, confirmed that the missing general had been killed.

The GOC explained that they gathered from a credible source that some hoodlums stopped Alkali’s car on his way to Bauchi and he introduced himself as a general.

The hoodlums were said to have assaulted and killed him, and thereafter shared his money, phones, and valuables among themselves.

According to him, Major General Alkali was killed and buried in a shallow grave in an area popularly known as, “No man’s land” in a community on the outskirt of Jos metropolis.

“He (Alkali) was later buried in a shallow grave in an area popularly known as, “No man’s land” within the community,” Akinroluyo said.
