The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Federal Operations Unit Zone C has impounded seven trucks fully loaded with 563 bales of second-hand clothing and over 2000 bags of imported rice with duty paid value of N65million.

The Customs Service also impounded a Toyota Avalon fully loaded with Cannabis Sativa, also known as Indian Hemp.

Addressing journalists in Owerri, the Imo State capital, the Zonal Controller of FOU Zone C, Kayode Oluwasemire, said that the truck was impounded through an intelligence report around the Aba-Port Harcourt axis.

He maintained that smuggling is a sabotage on the economy and assured that the commission will leave no stone unturned until the menace of smuggling is combated.

He warned all smugglers in the region to quit such practices as all measures are in place to arrest them.
